We've been carrying tape-in extensions for years now, and I'll be straight with you — most of them have the same problem. The tape itself is fine, the hair is usually decent, but you can see the seam. Especially if your hair is fine or you're placing them near the front. So when our supplier sent over these PU weft tape-ins, I was skeptical at first. Then I put a set in my own hair and forgot where I'd placed them. That pretty much sold me. Let me talk about what these are actually made of, because that's where the magic is. The hair is 100% human remy hair — cuticle aligned, which means the strands all run the same direction so they don't tangle into a bird's nest after two washes. But the real story here is the PU weft itself. PU stands for polyurethane, and it's a thin, skin-like strip that the hair is injected into rather than sewn or glued onto a fabric tape base. That injection process means each strand is secured individually, so shedding is minimal. The adhesive is double-sided and strong enough to hold through washing and styling, but it softens with heat when you're ready to remove it. Build quality on these is genuinely good. I've had a tester set in for six weeks with proper care and the wefts are still intact. Now the specs, because I know you want numbers. These come ten pieces per pack, each one measuring 4 centimeters wide and 0.8 centimeters tall — the same 4x0.8cm footprint as the classic MRSHAIR tape-ins, which matters for reasons I'll get to in a second. You've got four lengths to choose from: 12 inch at 2 grams per piece, 16 inch at 2 grams, 20 inch at 2.5 grams, and 22 inch at 2.5 grams. So a full pack runs somewhere between 20 and 25 grams depending on length. Color options cover the range you'd expect — with shade #60 being the lightest platinum blonde in the lineup, plus a few other tones to match most natural hair. If you need the SKU for reference, it's P3256808264050488. What are these actually for? Side hair. That's the honest answer. Most tape-in sets are built to add length and volume at the back, but the back isn't where fine hair usually betrays you — it's the sides. Scenario one: you pull your hair into a ponytail and the sides look thin and see-through near your temples. Two or three of these PU pieces placed correctly and that problem disappears. Scenario two: you're growing out a short cut and the sides are in that awkward in-between stage where nothing sits right. These add enough weight and length to get you through it. Scenario three, and this is the big one — you wear a half-up style and the front sections look sparse against the rest of your hair. These tape-ins blend into that zone invisibly because the PU base is basically the same shade and texture as scalp skin. Using them is straightforward but technique matters. Section your hair horizontally about an inch above where you want the extension, clip the rest up, and sandwich a thin layer of your natural hair between two tape pieces. Press firmly for a few seconds. Heat from a flat iron on low can help the adhesive set, but don't overdo it. Washing is fine — just use sulfate-free shampoo and avoid conditioner directly on the tape. Don't brush right at the root; start mid-length and work down. To remove, apply a bonding remover or a little rubbing alcohol at the seam and slide them out. If you take them out carefully, you can clean the tape residue and re-tape them with fresh adhesive strips for another round. Pros: they're genuinely invisible, the PU base lies flatter than fabric tape, they're comfortable enough to sleep in, and the 4x0.8cm size means they pair perfectly with standard MRSHAIR classic tape-ins. Cons, honestly: they're not cheap per gram at $50.02 a pack, and because each piece is only 2 to 2.5 grams, you need more pieces than you'd think for full coverage. They're also not great for very oily scalps — the adhesive breaks down faster. And if you're rough with brushing, you'll get some shedding. Nobody's perfect. Also worth noting: color matching on #60 platinum can be tricky if your hair has any warmth to it, so order a swatch or talk to us before committing. Here's the technical reason this design works. Classic tape-ins use a fabric or lace base, and that base has thickness. On thick hair you never notice it. On fine hair, especially at the sides where the hair lies flat against the skull, that thickness creates a visible ridge — you can literally see the tape through the hair. PU eliminates that because the polyurethane is poured thin and the hair is injected directly through it, so the profile is about as low as a weft can physically get. It also distributes weight more evenly across the strip rather than concentrating it at stitch points. Who does this suit best? Fine-haired people who want side volume without a visible seam. Anyone with a sensitive scalp who finds fabric tape itchy. People who wear updos and ponytails often. If you have very thick, coarse hair and you're just after length at the back, you probably don't need to pay the PU premium — classic tape-ins will do the job for less.
